Our Mother and Baby Unit, also known as Clover Ward, based at Melbury Lodge, Winchester, is proud to announce it has been awarded the nationally recognised Perinatal Quality Network (PQN) Accreditation by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
This prestigious accreditation is a testament to the ward’s unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and evidence-based care to mothers and their babies. The PQN accreditation process is a rigorous, year-long journey that includes a detailed self-review, a peer review, and a final decision based on comprehensive feedback from patients, families, and staff. All aspects of care are measured against the PQN’s robust standards, which cover everything from environmental needs and staffing to treatment and support.
The review process highlighted numerous areas of good practice on Clover Ward and reflected the wealth of positive feedback received from patients, often long after discharge. This recognition demonstrates the team’s dedication to continuous improvement and excellence in perinatal mental health care.
“We are incredibly proud to receive this accreditation,” shared Charlotte Swain, Ward Manager. “Our team are committed to upholding a high level of perinatal training, to ensure we can provide specialised care to support timely recovery for women at this crucial time. Our team work tirelessly to ensure we are providing the highest standards of care, and we are delighted that we have been able to showcase this through the accreditation process.”

Ashburn Svinurai, Managing Director for the Trust’s Secure, Acute and Crisis Division, commented, "I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the entire team at Clover Ward. This accreditation is a reflection of the incredible dedication, compassion, and hard work that go into supporting women and their families during such a crucial time. It’s a real achievement, and I’m so proud of what the team has accomplished."
The news comes as Hamtun Ward, one of the Trust’s Inpatient Adult Mental Health wards at Antelope House in Southampton, has also been awarded an accreditation by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
"I’m immensely proud of all our inpatient teams who are working so hard to achieve these accreditations. They’re more than just awards - they’re a testament to the commitment our staff show every day to making our services the very best they can be for the people we care for." Ashburn added.
